Jo shot this campaign with Sean for Greenpeace and their “Change Our Tuna” campaign aimed at reforming Australia’s fishing practices. It illustrates graphically the effect on the environment, namely turtles, through use of Fish Aggravation Devices (FAD’s).

Jo molded a turtle to scale from modelling clay to put in place of the real deal, expertly retouched by Cream, and created this everyday sandwich, which was still upsetting to construct, even with a fake turtle.

Public outcry has been so overwhelming since the campaign’s launch that John West, one of Australia’s largest tuna companies, has announced it will phase out FAD fishing by 2015.
